After much musing and discussion with friends nationwide, it’s my pleasure (with a hint of fear) to let you know that I’m going coast to coast and back again.
I couldn’t say no.
Not to Canada.
Not to New York.
Not to my friends.
Not to adventure.
My wanderlust is apparently insatiable and the trip has yet to begin. Heck, I’ve still got to finish work this next week and help out the Polk County CERT team for the Independence Day weekend July 1-4 with security, safety, and informative duties. I’ll likely head west for an hour and visit the Pacific Ocean before heading out east. Plus I’ve got to run some equipment tests.
As plans begin to set, I realize that apart from fuel, food, and “fun” that this trip shouldn’t be too costly. I have maybe two or three hotel stays throughout the 40 day (yes, 40) journey thanks to friends placed fantastically all over North America. I can’t decide whether to thank them or curse their names. In addition, only two of the driving stints are over 10 hours in duration (on paper). As far as I’m going, I’m shocked that it won’t be so strenuous. Well, that’s banking on whether or not my friends have laundry facilities in home or nearby. That’s likely to be my only downfall. Or exhaustion. Or unknown catastrophe. Hrm.

8,190 miles. 29 states. 2 provinces. 40 days. Gracious. I am a madman.
The (mis)adventure begins Sunday, July 10. That being said, updates will begin on July 1, when my Two Month Weekend actually begins. I’ll likely be paying the most attention to this blog and my Instagram, but I’ll likely update my Twitter and YouTube profiles, as well.
If you have suggestions of where to stop, what audiobooks to listen to, podcasts to obsess over, people to interview, rest areas to visit, or anything else, comment here or on any of those social profiles above and I’ll take it all into consideration.
Your Two Month Weekender,
RF
