Last week’s “Cocktail Hour” was a rousing success, as you can see by my Gin Rickey below. In case you missed it, you can find all the drink recipes I introduced during the show after the bump.

Cocktail Recipe No. 1: Gin Rickey
- 2 oz of your favorite gin (I prefer Hendrick’s)
- Juice of 1 lime
- club soda or sparkling water
- lime wedge
Preparation:
- Fill your highball glass (or favorite cup, I’m not picky) with ice.
- Pour the gin and lime juice over the ice.
- Top with club soda/sparkling water.
- Garnish with a lime wedge.
- Sip away.
- Stacey Kent – Ces Petits Riens
- Francoise Hardy – Comment te dire adieu
- Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin – Je T’Aime Non PlusCocktail Recipe No. 2: Rusty Nail
- 1 1/2 oz Scotch whisky
- 1/2 oz Drambuie
- 1 twist lemon peel
Preparation:
Pour the scotch and Drambuie into an old-fashioned glass almost filled with ice. Stir well. Garnish with the lemon twist.Substitute Canadian rye whiskey for Scotch to make yourself a Donald Sutherland or Drambuie Shandy. Tasty!
- Kat Edmonson – Champagne
- Karen Elson – The Ghost Who Walks
- Brenda Lee – Break It To Me Gently
- Julie London – Sway
Cocktail Recipe No. 3: SweetTarts aka Purple Drink aka Danger Juice
- 1 – 2 liter bottle of Sunkist (other orange soda works, but this is best)
- 2 packets of Grape Kool-Aid (accept no substitute)
- 1 packet of Cherry Kool-Aid
- 2 cups of Everclear
Preparation:
- Empty Sunkist halfway down (put into another container), then mix in Everclear and slowly add Kool-Aid packets (they bubble up like mad). Cap the bottle and slowly mix. Add as much Sunkist can go back in the bottle and chill. Serve as shots or a punch. Feel free to add more Everclear, depending on your party-goers. Enjoy at your own risk; this drink is potent!
